MISSION:
The Conference for Inclusive Communities is a human relations organization confronting prejudice, bigotry and discrimination through educational programs that raise awareness, foster leadership and encourage advocacy for a just and inclusive society.
VISION:
The Conference for Inclusive Communities envisions a society that is strengthened by diversity, inclusion, respect and justice for all people.
HISTORY:
The Conference for Inclusive Communities (CFIC), formerly NCCJ of the Midlands, founded in 1927 as The National Conference for Christians and Jews, is a human relations organization dedicated to confronting prejudice, bigotry and discrimination through educational programs that raise awareness, foster leadership and encourage advocacy for a just and inclusive society. Conference for Inclusive Communities is a member of the National Federation for Just Communities; allowing it to deliver well-researched, time-tested programming shared nationally to the local level. CFIC envisions a society that is strengthened by diversity, inclusion, respect and justice for all people … not just some people!
WHAT WE DO:
Today, CFIC offers several programs that raise awareness and advocates around issues of difference (race, culture, faith, sexual orientation, class and other diversities), and focuses on reducing personal and institutional biases and prejudices. Programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of a group and range from half-day workshops to full-year service learning internships.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS:
CFIC has recently announced the kick-off of a brand new program this fall - IncluCity Middle at Westside Middle. This program will engage 35 students leaders with educational human relations workshops and leadership training. Students will be responsible for developing and implementing a number of school-wide dialogues, activities and events throughout the year to inspire and empower their peers to create a positive culture within the school.
Central, Millard West, North and Elkhorn High have all been confirmed as participates in the upcoming IncluCity II workshop November 14th-17th, 2008 to take place at Carol Joy Hollings in Ashland, NE. This four-day residential leadership experience brings 60 students and additional staff from the selected high schools together to engage in honest dialogues around issues of difference and build skills to confront and challenge prejudice, bias and stereotyping.
